Meet Lachlan Oliver
Young Man Extraordinaire
Lachlan Oliver CEO~
Lachlan was always a very determined young man, from his earliest age through kindergarten and later elementary school and High School. He was the only one of my children who in kindergarten insisted that he was wasting his time listening to the teacher when he could be out there making mud pies! His siblings will attest to his sugar addiction - we did ration him on his sugar intake - but even so he was more than a handful most of the time.
This restless energy only increased with advancing age, and when he was 19 he declared his intent to join the Air Force. Lachlan served with honour as a medic in the Air Force and travelled the world - sampling desserts along the way. The military instilled in him a way of life -to serve others, to be of service. It also taught him self discipline, meticulous planning and follow through. Skills which are equally important in running a dessert restaurant. Lachlan spent more than nine years in the Air Force, served tours in Afghanistan, Iraq as well as Kosovo and many other "hot spots" of the world. When the Air Force finally let him go, it was not easy to adjust to civilian life but in Heaven Sent Desserts he found a challenge which taxed him and demands all his attention and energy. The challenge has been great, but met and overcome; the military training triumphing and the memory of the friends who did not come back never fading.
But his greatest gift is his empathy for his fellow man and it's also his greatest strength.
My son is an entrepreneur but most of all a humanitarian, and I am proud of him.
Lachlan's Mum.
